Happy Halloween

We have been busy today. It all started with an impromptu cleaning spree followed by getting some groceries.

Andrew washed his car, my car, and my mom's car. Tyler helped. And then we carved pumpkins while we listened to Halloween music. Tillie kept us company in the front yard. Tyler jumped in the piles of leaves out front and I took pictures. Tyler told us that Andrew and I were his best friends. How cute is that?

We caught a little of Batman Returns (my fav Batman movie) and then Andrew, Tillie, and I took Tyler trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. He was dressed as Jengo Fett, a Star Wars bounty hunter. Tillie was dressed as a Dallas Cowboys football player. She didn't get any candy but Tyler got tons. And he had such a good time. It was fun taking him around like that. It was the first year we really got to do that with him.

When we got back, my dad took Tyler over to trick-or-treat over in my sister's neighborhood and Andrew and I finally got to eat dinner. And we passed out candy to some kids. And then we turned our lights out and retreated upstairs. We ran out of candy and I'm glad because I won't be tempted to snack on it.

Happy Halloween everyone. Hope your night was as fun as ours.

Here is the newest SNL short: On the ground. Enjoy.

The new kitchen. finally.

The cabinet guys came today and installed the new kitchen cabinets. I can't believe they're actually in. This kitchen has been a long time coming. It's great to see it finally looking like a real kitchen.

We went to Tyler's school's Halloween Carnival tonight. It was fun. There were some pretty cute kids in their costumes. And Tyler had a blast running around with all his little friends. We went to dinner beforehand at San Fransisco Bread Co., a place I used to eat at all the time when I worked over on the west side, and it made me think of you, Tammy.

I have become obsessed with lomography. And I'm pretty sure that I have been a lomographer all my life I just never knew it was a real thing. It feels good to know there is this whole new universe out there. A super awesome club that I have been a card carrying member of pretty much my whole life without ever knowing it. Check it out @ www.lomography.com

Andrew is over at Schuck's new house playing video games and having boy time. I am listening to music and surfing the internet for a new type of moisturizer and having girl time. Yay Friday.

The world is underwater

Wednesday

We carved pumpkins over at Kat & Gary's last night and didn't get home in time to post so here is the rundown of our day:

Andrew had class and work. Then we had dinner, watched ANTM (well, I did), and went over to the Grant's. We carved pumpkins, watched a little of Childsplay, made a drink called the Vampire, hung out, and watched The Last House on the Left. Well, we watched most of it but the movie messed up and we didn't get to finish it. But I think I can figure out how it ends.

Thursday

Andrew went to work today. I stayed home by myself because the flooring guy had to come back this morning to do some of the last minute details. But its all finished now and just in time because the new kitchen cabinets are coming tomorrow. It is looking really nice.

I woke up this morning and my head felt like it was going to split into. And the world was under water. I have been taking sinus medicine like it is going out of style. I am finally feeling a little better now, at almost midnight.

We saw some live news story where this car here in LR drove right into this massive rain puddle and started to sink and float away. With people in it. And the firefighters came and dove in, busted the window in, and pulled the people out. It was very exciting. Also exciting: Jay Leno fed an elephant on his show tonight. And it was eating pineapples whole. I wish I could do that. Only I don't like pineapples. But I would if I were an elephant, I'm sure.

Is it just me, or does the guy in this Hershey's commercial look remarkably like Conan O'Brien?

My face is killing me

This rain is making me crazy. I have been taking ibuprofen for the past few days but it hasn't been doing anything to alleviate this pressure in my head. So today we picked up some Tylenol sinus congestion and pain. Hopefully it will do more for me. I can't take this weather anymore. We should move to the desert where is NEVER rains.

Andrew and I cooked barbeque chicken breasts, buttery herb rice, and broccoli for dinner tonight but the broccoli tasted like freezer so we threw it out. And we made corn instead. Puke.

I spent a good couple of hours in front of the computer this evening getting my music fix. I am obsessed with music and know a lot but I discovered some really cool new artists tonight. And I'm pretty sure I'm awesome. So if you are needing some new music to listen to, just hit me up.

Andrew and I are dreaming of taking a road trip to the west coast. Maybe stop by the Grand Canyon/Yellowstone/Redwood National Park/World's Largest Ball of Twine. Anyone interested in joining us?

More rain today

More rain today which means another headache. I know everyone thinks all this rain is no good -- I agree, btw -- but try having to deal with a headache because of all the bad weather on top of everything else. It's not fun and I'm getting very tired of it.

Felt like crap today because of the weather. Curled up with one of Andrew's hoodies and Gilmore Girls.

We are teaching Tillie a new trick: beg. But right now she seems more interested in the treats we bribe her with than anything else.

Andrew has nothing interesting concerning school or work to report.

Way to go Cowboys!

We both woke up feeling horrible. Andrew threw up and I slept late. The flooring guy was back and making so much noise I thought the house was going to fall down but I managed to sleep through it.

We had Arby's for lunch and sat down for an afternoon of sports. I watched a little ice skating and the television broadcast of the Worlds Gymnastics apparatus event finals even though I already watched them online last week.

Then Andrew and I (and Tillie) watched Dallas kill Atlanta. They are looking pretty good this season. Miles Austin is new to the team and I hadn't really seen him play before but he had a really good game and did a lot for the team. I am excited to see what he can do later on in the season.

We grilled hamburgers for dinner. The new kitchen cabinets and appliances go in on Friday. I'm ready to actually have somewhere to cook and eat again. And to use real plates and silverware.

We are watching Land of the Lost for the third time. Andrew is really digging that movie.

Our lives are boring but I have a cute coat

I missed posting yesterday so I will go ahead and catch you up on what has been going on around here the last 2 days:

Thursday

Andrew has the flu. Now, I don't really think its the pig kind but he has had a fever and aching joints. I am giving him lots of medicine and he is making a nice recovery.

I did a lot of cleaning/organizing Thursday. I organized the armoire upstairs and it now holds all of our jackets and coats as well as board games, movies, video games, and the books from my childhood. Its an odd mix, I know. I've had to get creative with my storage solutions here.

Since the old kitchen has been ripped out and the new kitchen isn't installed yet, cooking is difficult. Thursday night we just got Chinese takeout and played video games. Not much of a challenge, I know.

Friday

The hardwood guy got sick so he didn't come today. Andrew stayed home from work. His fever is pretty much staying down. I've been Lysoling everything like crazy.

I went over to Kat's this afternoon and we got to Skype with Lauren and meet her Korean boyfriend. He seems nice and I can tell she really likes him. I'm just glad to see her happy. Plus, they are adorable.

Kat and I grabbed lunch and had a few minutes to catch up before she had to get back to her very busy life. Hopefully we'll get some more time later this week.

I am applying for a job in Maryland. Andrew thinks it would be great if I get it. At least then I'll be close to Kristin in Delaware.

Tonight we cooked paninis on the Foreman and watched Land of the Lost. Pretty funny. I vaguely remember that show from when I was a kid. Will Ferrell is pretty hysterical. I don't like him in a lot of movies but in this he was okay. Stupid, yes, but I wasn't in mood for a movie that makes me have to think too much.

We were going to head up to Jonesboro in the morning for the homecoming game but Andrew still isn't feeling his best and I didn't want to overdo it. So we will stay here and lounge around. But if you do head up there to catch the festivities, tell everyone we say hello.

Flooring installation

The hardwood floor went in today. It isn't done yet -- it will take at least another week. But take a look at that Brazilian Cherry wood. It's looking really nice, isn't it?

Andrew woke up feeling horrible this morning and stayed home from school and work. I am taking care of him. He is eating ice cream at the moment, waiting for his NyQuil to kick in.

Ready to settle down (not like that)

This is the face of a puppy who is just now remembering what a bath feels like. She forgot because we haven't had time to give her one lately. She remembers now. And she is worn out.

Tillie scratched me on the face today. It was an accident but still... it doesn't look pretty.

Andrew helped rip up the remaning flooring tonight. The installers come Wednesday. Should be a very interesting day.

I spent the majority of the day trying to figure out how to make our desktop run faster. I swear, when it comes to our computer situation, it's always something.

Things are still moving pretty crazy around here. I'm just ready for things to settle down a bit.

so much noise, it makes my head hurt.

Demolition continued at 3104 today. The doorway to the old kitchen got ripped out in preparation for the new wider one. And all of the lower cabinets on the left side got ripped out as well. The floor is halfway out. All that is left is the sink, upper cabinets, stove, and the rest of the floor.
I woke up with some pretty bad sinus head pain. I'm sure all that pounding and dust didn't help at all. All of the medicine and caffeine in the world couldn't help me today.
We got lunch from Jason's Deli. I had a turkey wrap and the most delicious tomato basil soup I have ever eaten. I will most definitely be partaking in that again soon.
Andrew had to work brunch today but he came home relatively early. We tried to hide from all the commotion downstairs because it was putting us in horrible moods. And now that it's over for the day, we are going to snuggle to enjoy a movie and the beautiful sound of stillness.

Yoga makes me feel good

Andrew didn't go to work today and we got to spend the entire day together which is a rarity for us. We ate, hung out, and took Tillie to Petsmart where we saw the biggest dog I've ever seen and tried Halloween costumes on Tillie.
I worked on on the Wii Fit for an hour today and Andrew took this funny picture of me and my nephew doing yoga together.
And I got to Skype with Laura tonight -- for some reason I am becoming incredibly dependent on Skype to keep in contact with my friends. Maybe if they would quit moving far away, it wouldn't have to be that way. Pretty soon I'm going to be able to go days on end without talking face-to-face with a single human being.
Andrew got a new computer game and has been busy playing it all evening.
I love walking around listening to Pandora on my phone while its in my pocket. Its like having a real life soundtrack. So much fun.

A pretty good Friday, I think.

So, Andrew and I are completely addicted to the LoseIt app on our iPhones. Its an app that tracks everything you eat and how many calories you are consuming every day. It just keeps you on track with eating healthy and exercising. And it has access to hundreds of different restaurants' menus so its really easy to add things if you eat out. And its almost become a game for me. I have to try to fit as many things into my eating as possible without going over 1,133 calories (yes, that's how many I'm allowed). And I have to enter it into my daily log before I will eat it. And I even have to enter water even though its zero calories. I am a little OCD about it. But what am I not OCD about? Andrew gets like 900 more calories than I do which isn't always fair. But whatever. I will just be skinnier than him.
Demolition started tonight on the old kitchen. The cabinets are getting ripped out in preparation for the new floor. My dad taught Tyler how to saw. It was adorable.
Also, the 2009 World Gymnastics Competition is going on this week. I have been watching live coverage on the Internet all week. NBC's coverage will be airing October 24-25 but let me go ahead and just ruin it for you a little bit: Bridget Sloan gets gold in women's all around after Rebecca Bross messes up on the last tumbling pass of her floor routine (the last rotation). Bross gets silver. Some Japanese girl gets third. Jonathan Horton messes up right out of the gate -- sits down during the first tumbling pass of his floor routine (the first rotation) and never fully recovers -- continues to mess up on every apparatus. He didn't even finish in the top 10. Some Japanese guy gets gold. Some British kid gets silver. Which I'm glad about. Britain has never had a male gymnast medal in the World Competition. And then I don't even remember who got bronze. The men were kind of a let down. Individual Event Finals start tomorrow @ 8:55a.
Today we love:
Special K Red Berries
Panera Bread Co.
warm jackets
gymnastics
sunny weather
ibuprofen
diets

It finally feels like Fall

Because of all the rain we've been having lately, the temperatures have dropped dramatically. The weather feels very much like Fall. I love Fall. I love the way the air smells. I love the jackets. I love crunching leaves under my feet. Fall is so short. Winter gets here way too quickly. I plan on enjoying it as much as I can while its here.

Today Andrew and I ate at the new Panera in NLR. It was delicious.

We are still loving our iPhones. Our favorite (free) apps so far:

LostIt
Shazam
Pandora
Spanish Tutor
Discovery Channel
Astronomy Picture of the Day

Oh Happy Day!

I tried to update last night but the internet was down because my parents were having the flooring in the computer room ripped up and the router and everything was shut down.

So, here is what happened yesterday:

I got this super cool teapot. Isn't it adorable? I love it. It makes me smile.

We watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall again. Andrew is obsessed with that movie. I really like it too. It's hilarious. You should watch it. And you should watch this video too (its Andrew's favorite part).

I am loving Rachel Zoe right now. Loving her. And Stacy London. She was on an episode of Say Yes to the Dress. She was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding. She was a bridesmaid. She wasn't even the maid of honor. If Stacy London was my friend, I was totally make her the maid of honor. Oh what I wouldn't give to be friends with Stacy London.

And today:

I woke this morning to sun (finally) and a route 44 Diet Coke from Sonic. I knew it was going to be a good day.

I went to Kohls on the west side and got a pair of boots that I almost bought the day before but they didn't have my size. Yay. And I spent a good hour browsing clothes, shoes, purses, and jewelry. It was perfect.

Mom and I had lunch @ Buffalo Grill. Delicious.

Andrew and I picked Laura and Dan up @ the airport. They had good (but long) flights and made it back safely. I wish I could say the same for their luggage. Apparently, their luggage never got the memo about leaving Hawaii. But they are headed this way right now and should be in LR tomorrow morning.

And then Andrew and I got new iPhones. Oh yes. They are beautiful. And we are addicted. Already. Our lives are changed forever. And we have unlimited internet browsing and text messaging -- so just a heads up, you all will be hearing from us a lot more frequently.

We also had dinner @ Wing Stop.

And Panera is finally open here in NLR.

Oh Happy Day.

Monday...

Woke up today to yet another rainy grey day. I feel like it has been raining for a month straight. The roofers were supposed to come to the house today to start on the new roof but the rain cancelled that.

I did some more cleaning. And haven't received any news on the job front which is really frustrating and discouraging. I don't understand. Apparently my resume is awesome and everyone that interviews with me really likes me. So how is it that I don't have a job? I feel like I'm never going to get anywhere.

We got some soup and sandwiches from McAlister's for dinner. Its nice to have something warm to eat on a wet and nasty night.

Andrew had another Nutrition exam that he thinks he did really well on. He's doing really well in all his classes.

I promise this will never happen again

It's been so long since we've posted. A combination of things have kept us from the internet and blogging worlds. Please excuse our absense. We are back now (mostly) and will never go this long without posting again.

Here are some things happening in our world:

found the camera charger today after about a week of searching.
slowly going through the mass of stuff around us.
helped the rents bring 4,000 lbs of flooring into the house.
got some new clothes.
finally got back in the gym.
Andrew got some new running shoes.
started and then finished reading The Exploits and Adventures of Miss Alethea Darcy.

And now here are the pictures of our adventures last week:

More

So, its been a while since we updated, I know. We are still having a hard time with the whole router thing. Still haven't figured out how to make it work. Andrew hasn't really had time to do any sort of trouble shooting with all of the school, work, and moving he's been doing lately.

Here's a little of what we've been up to lately:

Saturday

LAURA'S WEDDING DAY! Laura and Dan finally got married. We woke up that morning on top of Mt. Nebo. The weather was incredible. We had a little trouble getting started and a LOT of drama but everything turned out okay. We got our hair done, ate some lunch, got ready, and took lots of pictures. And then it was time. Laura looked beautiful. It was a very sweet wedding. And the reception was really nice and fun. We all had a good time. I'm happy everything went well for Laura on her special day and that we got to be a part of it. She deserved a great day. She has been planning forever.

We drove home that night at got here around midnight. We went straight to bed. And Tillie was very happy to see us again.

Sunday

We woke up early. It rained all day. Andrew went to work and I met Laura, Dan, and their international friends for breakfast before they left for the airport. Then we saw them off. Again, lots of pictures. And I took Laura's car home with me so she wouldn't have to pay for parking. Aren't I a great Matron of Honor? I also took her dress home too. And I returned Dan's tuxedo for him.

I tried to take a nap later that afternoon but it just wasn't in the cards. So I watched a little Gilmore Girls instead.

We went to the Beach Boys concert that night. They were performing with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. It was a really neat show. I'm glad we got to go.

Monday

I actually got to sleep in a little and catch up on the sleep I had missed over the past week or so. It was nice.

I applied for a job with the Arkansas Foodbank Network (thanks for the heads up about the job, Shane). I hope I hear something from them soon. It seems like something I would really enjoy.

Mom and I ran some errands. And then I started feeling terrible. I had been freezing the entire day and then my throat started hurting. So I bundled up on the couch and drank hot tea.

Andrew and I made grilled cheese and tomato soup (my fav) and rented Away We Go. Its really funny. You should watch it.

I'm getting really sick of updating like this

We are getting ready to leave soon to head up to Mt. Nebo for Laura's wedding weekend! But before we do, here is a little of what we have been doing the past few days:

Thursday

We went back to the apartment in the morning to pick up the last few things and do last minute cleaning. We finally got it all done. And we turned in our keys. So we are officially moved out. So long 403.

When we got back to the house, we ate Corky's barbecue and watched a movie. And we packed for this weekend and went to bed early. We were both really tired. All of this moving business has us absolutely wiped out.

Wednesday

We went back to the apartment for more moving/packing. It feels like we will never get this done.

Remember the porch that I started revamping a few months ago? Well, I never finished it. And now that we're moving out, something had to be done about it. So Andrew got to work on it. He scraped it clean from all the adhesive they used to install the outdoor carpet (puke) and put down adhesive remover to get it really clean. My mom helped him. And when that is done, they are going to paint it with grey cement paint. It should look really good.

My mom took us out to lunch today @ McAlister's. It was delicious. Then she and I went back to the apartment and finished cleaning while Andrew went to class. He got his test back from the other day. He made a 103 on it. I am incredibly proud of him. He is doing so well and really seems to be enjoying it. And now I'm thinking that all these years of him not really caring about school and getting average grades was just because he wasn't applying himself. He just had to find that one thing that he really loves and is interested in. And I think he's found it. I know that is a relief to him and incredibly encouraging.
