Schuck!

I met Andrew after work at West End for some drinks with some of his coworkers. I just had a water.

We worked out tonight. Two nights in a row makes me feel good about myself.

Shuck came over to play video games with Andrew. It's good to see Andrew having a good time with a great friend.

It must be Tuesday

Tuesday is the worst day of the week. Nothing good ever happens on a Tuesday. And today was no exceptions. Everything just seemed off. But it wasn't anything that a trip to Cupcakes on Kavenaugh couldn't fix. We got ours with extra frosting and they were incredible but I left there feeling like I couldn't fit into my clothes anymore so Andrew and I went and worked out.

We also went by the library. Browsing the used books for sale, we found a copy of Anna Karenina and a collection of John Steinbeck's short stories for a dollar each. Score.

Andrew didn't have to work tonight. We had some free tickets to the Jason Mraz concert tonight but we passed. Andrew doesn't work tomorrow night either. Hopefully this will be a trend that continues for a while.

Happy Hour and Traveling Opportunities

I have had severe sinus pains all day. The sky looked menacing all day but wouldn't ever do anything to alleviate my ailment. Then, at Sonic's Happy Hour, I was treated to a flash flood and since then I have been feeling much better.

We've been planning an anniversary trip for quite some time now and after having other plans fall through, we finally booked a trip that I think will be even more fun. We are very excited about it. More details coming soon.

Melissa got hurt on DWTS and didn't compete. I hope she doesn't get eliminated tomorrow. You better have voted for her.

the view from the top

Andrew had the day off today! We spent the entire day having fun and being productive at the same time. We got groceries this morning and then took Tillie on her first adventure on Pinnacle Mountain. She loved it. We had a pretty good time too.

Then we ate dinner and came back and watched the Twilight movie. Andrew had never seen it. I laugh every time I watch that movie. I just can't get over how completely cheesy it is. I know they're trying to make it be all serious and vampirish, but it just so ridiculous in parts that I simply cannot help myself.

I have become obsessed with gardening

As a kid, I used to think my mom was weird because she spent so much time out in the yard planting, pruning, and watering. And now here I am doing the same thing. And I actually really enjoy it. I planted some beautiful flowers in the planters that hang on our porch railings. And I planted more out front in an old pot of my mother's that I brought back to life with a little white spray paint. The older I get, the more I find myself becoming like my mother. And unlike other people I know, I'm actually okay with that.

We decided to have a garage sale at the end of May. That gives us an opportunity to get rid of some of the stuff we have lying around here that we never use. And we can make a little extra cash. We are holding it in conjunction with my parents. It will be a major undertaking but I think it will be good for all of us. Every now and then you just kind of have to let go of some things, slough off the excess, and start fresh. And I think that's something I really need in my life right now.

Girls' Nite In

Kat is in Dallas, Andrew is at work, and Tillie and I are having a girls' night in. We have good food, new clothes to try on, music, and facials. I am not doing any housework tonight. Tillie and I have made a nest on the bed and will stay here until bedtime. I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow.

News on the neighbor situation: it's an old lady. I guess that explains the lawn ornaments.

I am looking forward to the day when Andrew is done at Chilis. It can't come soon enough.

And does anyone else love Anne of Green Gables like I do?

Thursday, April 23, 2009

I picked Tyler up from school this afternoon so we got to spend some quality time with him. He came over after work to enjoy one of his favorite pasttimes: watching recorded episodes of America's Funniest Home Videos. He also decided on the way home that a triangle-shaped car would be awesome and that we are all Star Wars Clone Wars characters. I am Asoka something. She's the only girl on team Jedi. Andrew is Anakin. Tyler decided that it would be best to be Luke after discovering that Anakin kills Count Doku and the Emperor (both of his previous picks).

Andrew had the night off! So we got stuff to make salads and bread. It was delicious. I feel very good about the healthy choice we made for dinner. Then we headed off to Barnes & Noble where I think I saw John Choate.

Earth Day

I figured today would be a good day to check on our peonies that I planted a few weeks ago. Just ignore the shape of our flower beds (the whole porch area is a work in progress). But, look how much they are growing! Pretty soon they will be tall and pink and gorgeous. And I am excited.

I have decided to become almost a vegetarian. And not because I think it's wrong to eat meat -- I love a good hamburger almost as much as I love shoes and purses. I just think it's a lot healthier to eat more fruits and veggies. And the meat that I do eat will be white meat. Maybe I'll have red meat once or twice a month, as a treat or something. Sound good? It's a good thing I'm not a huge fan of meat to start with. I am setting up a nutrition plan and will be implementing the things Andrew learns in his classes. I'll let you know how it goes. Feel free to jump on the healthy train though.

Happy Earth Day! I hope you did something good for the environment today!

Happy Real Birthday Grandma!

These two lovelies were my company this evening as we watched Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel. We ate chicken quesadilas and enjoyed some nice red wine. It was pretty fun.

I also got a super cute navy and white polka dot dress at a significant discount. I was proud of myself for scoring such a deal.

Today is also my grandmother's birthday. So, Happy Birthday, Grandma!

P.S. I love doing laundry.

Welcome Home Tillie

Today I went and picked Tillie up and took her home. She had to smell everything in our house to make sure nothing had changed. And then she ate and layed down and went to sleep. She slept all evening. Even now, she is laying down on the couch.

When Andrew came home, he brought me these beautiful flowers. He missed me. Isn't that sweet.

Now we are enjoying a late night Taco Bell picnic.

Andrew is still working at Chili's but tonight he started trying to give away all of his remaining shifts so we can spend more time together.

On the road again

We literally just got home after being on the road for about 12 hours. I don't remember that trip ever taking that long. I don't even remember it taking that long on the way up, but I guess I was asleep for some of it.

We woke up early this morning and had a big breakfast with everyone at my grandparents' house and then we hit the road. It was nasty weather and we spent the time watching movies, playing video games, napping, talking, and acting silly. My favorite part of the trip was all the silly pictures Tyler and I took when we got bored (see above). We can entertain ourselves with a camera for hours. He was cracking me up. I am OBSESSED with that kid.

Oh and Andrew drove the entire way back and did beautifully, so we are all very proud of him for that. He's exhausted now though.

We got back too late to go pick up Tillie and it feels a little weird going to bed without her tonight. But I will be picking her up tomorrow and I am very excited about that.

Grandma's Birthday Party

Today was my Grandmother's birthday party here in Ft. Wayne. We ate at a restaurant called The Factory and it was pretty good. Afterwards we came back to their house and spent the rest of the day there spending time with relatives and catching up. Oh and we got some Dairy Queen, which was incredible considering we don't have it back in LR.

And as promised, I got some pretty funny videos of Rion and Tyler playing. But I haven't figured out how to make them show up on my new computer so I'll have to figure that out and get back to you.

We are going to bed. We have had quite a day and have to prepare to head back tomorrow.

Friday in Ft. Wayne

We have decided that our favorite thing about traveling is getting to eat at restaurants that we don't have. Today we ate lunch at Dogs 'n Suds. It was pretty good food and a really neat place.

Also, we got to play cards with my grandpa (my favorite relative ever) and it was so neat to get to see him telling all the stories from his childhood to Tyler -- the same stories he's been telling since since I was Tyler's age.

My cousin's kid, Rion, is the cutest little girl ever. Tonight I got to meet her for the first time and she had me laughing so hard I was crying. If I could possibly describe her, I would. But I can never do her justice. Maybe I can catch some video of her tomorrow at my grandma's party.

Today's find of the day on Foundmagazine.com is hilarious. Check it out:

Just a quick note

Tillie has been dropped off and we're about to hit the road, I just wanted to share a little something with everyone first. So, the apartment next to ours has been vacant since about October. And finally we get home from dropping Tillie off and this is what we find: a bunch of tacky lawn ornaments. Yes, there is a black cat sticking out his tongue and an elephant with a mallard duck on its head. So, we just want to give a hearty welcome to our strange new neighbor. We hope you and your plaster friends will be happy here.

Happy Tax Day

Tonight we celebrated having done our taxes early by doing laundry and packing for our trip. I am feeling more awful today than yesterday (if possible) but I am sucking it up to get all of our "to dos" done. And Andrew called in to work today because his chin wasn't really healed up enough and he couldn't really work around food with an open wound so we got to spend some time together. It was nice.

Tomorrow we are dropping Tillie off and I am actually dreading it. I am scared she will think we are abandoning her because I don't know her previous history with abandonment. But I know she'll be in good hands. I hope she has a good time.

Time to finish laundry and packing. And at some point I'd like to take some NyQuil so I can get a little sleep. It's going to be a late night. It's a good thing we aren't doing much of anything tomorrow at work.

I think I'm getting sick

So, I was going to post this ridiculous picture of me getting my hair done at Kat's salon today but on the way to dinner @ Yia-Yia's with Andrew (yes, he finally had the night off for once) we came across the coolest sunset ever and I just had to take a picture of it. So, if you still want to see that crazy picture of me, just hop on over to Kat's blog and have a look.

Yes, we had dinner @ Yia-Yia's and yes it was amazing but I am getting sick and my throat/tonsils have been killing me all day. And now I have a pounding headache on top of that. I have been taking vitamins, using Zicam, and drinking orange juice all day in an effort to stop/reduce whatever this is that is ailing me but so far it hasn't helped.

We finally got our washer & dryer this afternoon and Andrew is in the process of hooking it all up. I'm so proud of him. It's so handy to have a man in the house who knows how to do these kinds of things.

P.S. This just happened. While hooking up the dryer, Andrew stood up too fast, hit his head on a shelf, and then hit his chin on the top of the dryer. Nice one, huh? It's actually really a lot more gruesome in person.

Monday Funday

So, I got kind of bored today while Tammy was out sick and I guess I got a little carried away playing with my new camera. It's hilarious, don't you think?

We got Tillie a new toy today. And my throat is hurting. I better not be getting sick.

Our washer & dryer are finally coming tomorrow! But right now I am going to take a super hot shower and go to bed early. Maybe I can stop this thing before it really gets started.

Happy Easter

This morning I woke up to the traditional Easter Basket hunt that I have been going on every Easter morning since I can remember. I decided to take the tradition my parents started into our home to one day celebrate with our kids. In the meantime, we get to keep the fun all to ourselves. I found my basket (the little blue basket I've had every Easter since I was born) on a chair, tucked under the table. Andrew's was hidden in a bottom cabinet in the kitchen. All the surprises inside made me happy.

This evening, everyone came over for Easter dinner at our house. I like hosting family events. I like sharing all of our nice things with everyone. Andrew brought home a bottle of Riesling for dinner and it was really good. I'm really starting to like a lot of different wines.

Now we are settling in to enjoy our evening together and rejuvenating ourselves to start another week.

Happy Easter everyone!

This was supposed to be our washer & dryer's arrival

I woke up @ 9:30 this morning in anticipation of the arrival of our new (to us) washer and dryer. I cleaned out the laundry closet in preparation. I even vaccumed and wiped down the tile. And then I waited. On the couch. All day. For nothing. No washer. No dryer. And this is what I've had to look at all day. Now, I'm not complaining because we aren't paying anything for these incredible pieces of machinery, I'm just saying. Fingers crossed that it happens tomorrow.

I went with my family to have dinner @ Chilis tonight and Andrew was our waiter. It was nice to be able to spend a little time together, even if he was working.

I asked Andrew if there was anything he wanted to say in this post and his response was "Pookookachoo Ooochoochookadoo Urk Urk Bakka Bakka." What a weirdo.

We made finally made it!

Praise the Lord, it's the weekend. Finally. I didn't think I was going to make it.
I finally finished the inside of that cabinet I have been working on forever. I think it looks prety good. Definitely an improvement anyway.
I got to leave work early today. They let everyone go @ 3 because of Good Friday. So I went shopping with my mom. I got 3 shirts and a pair of trouser style jeans. They are cute. Yay for cute clothes.
I have a cut on the end of my finger. That might very well be the most inconvenient place to have a cut.
I have been digging the Black Eye Peas' new song "Boom Boom Pow" all day. You should check it out.
Happy Good Friday everyone.

Happy Hour is my hero

Today was better. I had a headache from the weather though that would not alleviate itself because it wouldn't ever really let loose and rain. It still hasn't. Sonic's Happy Hour kept me alive today. And I miss Andrew because we haven't seen each other all day. I'll be glad when his time at Chili's is up.
I'm really exhausted tonight. I don't think I'm going to make it to the weekend.
Oh good news: we are scoring a free washer and dryer on Saturday.

The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Today was just a pretty crappy day, from the second I woke up -- and still is. This week is really kicking my butt.

The 2 good things that happened today:
my passport finally came
Andrew had the night off

Oh and I had 3 real cokes at lunch. Happy Wednesday.

No housework today

My boss and I were just having a discussion today about how crappy Tuesdays are. I mean, there's really no point in a Tuesday. And nothing good ever happens. And to prove my point, this is the view from my driver's side window on the way home from work today, stuck in traffic on the 630/30 loop. Thanks a lot, Tuesday.

Today is National No Housework Day. And to celebrate, I didn't do any housework. Okay, so I bathed Tillie and cleaned the master bath but I had to -- if my bathroom isn't clean, I feel disgusting. So really, I don't count any of that.

We have discovered recently that Oreo Cakesters are our frenemies. My metabolism wishes they had never been invented.

Andrew has tomorrow night off. Yay!

Active and Alert is so not Monday's thing.

I am so proud of how tall our herbs have grown. Cilantro seems to be an overachiever though.

Also, today we found out what the reprocusions are of feeding Tillie Alpo. Not smart.

Andrew put in his 3 week notice @ Chilis. I know he is excited about getting to focus all of his attention and efforts on one thing and I am excited about getting to spend more time with him. This should prove to be a good thing for both of us.

Anyone watch the Hills last night? OMG. Spencer is such a jerk. I hate Speidi.

And finally, I am obsessed with this website right now. The photos are incredible.

A day of rest

Much like the rest of the weekend, today was a good day to sit at home and do nothing. So that's what we did.
I went with my parents' to check out some new tents in preparation for our May camping trip. And we had some lunch. Then later, I came over to do laundry and hunted around my their house for some of my old stuff. Andrew joined us for grilled hamburgers and we have a huge container of baked beans sitting in our fridge now. I promise I have never seen so many beans in all my life.
Also, we inherited a new microwave today. It is most decidely better than our old one. So, I am very pleased with it.
It is getting super cold tonight. What the heck is up with the weather?! I'm glad the plants out back haven't started coming up yet or they might freeze (I'm such a nerd).
Who wants to go back to work tomorrow? Not me.

Saturday, April 4, 2009

a saturday of nothings.

Andrew spent the day working (just like every weekend of my life) so I spent the day getting better acquainted with our new laptop. And sitting here at the dining room table, this is the view I had every time I looked down. This little face was there (and still is at this very moment) just waiting for me to do something fun or drop something that she could gobble up. She's been very patiently waiting for me to play with her.

I also went with my mom to get some groceries. It's nice to have food in the house again.

I am in a cleaning mood. I started earlier this afternoon but I think I'll finish up now. I always get in the mood to clean late at night.

And I finally got to talk to Krit and catch up, so that was nice.

Friday, April 3, 2009

Rim, I love you.

I got to Skype with Lauren tonight and it was most definitely the highlight of my day. It was so good to catch up with you, Rim. We should make this a weekly ritual.

Went to Williams-Sonoma today and tried the most amazing paninis ever. Then proceeded to purchase a $14 jar of green olive spread and came home and made our own. And they were fabulous, of course.

Rainy Day

It rained all day today and it was raining in my soul as well. But then the rain stopped and the most incredible rainbow appeared. Even sitting in the Wal-Mart parking lot, it made me stop and take notice of it. Mom always told me that rainbows were a reminder of the promise from God to never flood the world again. Maybe that promise applies to my heart as well.

It's Thursday and during the Blog Music Party Week, that means it's time for all those songs that we are embarassed to admit that we like:

Meghan:
1. "Cowboy Take Me Away" by the Dixie Chicks
2. "Fabulous" from High School Musical 2
3. "Let's Do This" by Hannah Montana
4. "Kiss The Girl" by Ashley Tisdale
5. "Just Lose It" by Eminem

Andrew:
1. "Now or Never" from High School Musical 3
2. "Earl" by the Dixie Chicks
3. "Dance Magic" from the Labrynth
4. "Banana Phone" by Raffi
5. "More Sex Than Me" by Tism

April Fools!

Spent the evening uploading Sims onto the laptop -- there's a lot. K & L, aren't you proud?

I didn't really pull any April Fools jokes this year. Not that I object on moral grounds, I just couldn't really think of anything particularly good.

Oh and we finally got the internet working today so I am officially posting for the first time for the new computer -- rejoice!

Continuing with Blog Music Party Week, today's roundup of songs are from movie soundtracks:

Meghan:
1. "The World Spins Madly On" by The Weepies from Because I Said So
2. "New Slang" by The Shins from Garden State (favorite movie ever)
3. "It'll All Work Out" by Tom Petty from Elizabethtown
