Happy Mother's Day!

Look at the pretty flowers I got my mom. 2 different kinds -- I am an exceptionally good child.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. Hope your kids are as appreciative and generous as me.

Getting Ready

Today we've been getting ready. All day, it feels like. Today I got my hair done before our big trip. And this picture was going to be the picture of the day before I came home and saw these:

Andrew picked wild flowers for me while on a walk with Tillie. Aren't they just so cute? He really is the sweetest boy ever.

I also stopped by the US Customs office this morning and registered our laptop and camera with them so we will have no problems leaving with them or coming back. And they gave me some paperwork that looks really official. And it made me realize just how much I love official looking papers. It makes me feel important and prepared. And we all know how much I love feeling prepared.

Also, I found $7 bucks in my winter coat pocket today while looking for our DS charger. I didn't find it. Does anyone know where we might have hidden the charger for our Nintendo DS? It seems to have disappeared.

There is still hope.

So, the absolutely beautiful flowers outside our front door have been looking a little rough lately. All the flowers dried and fell off leaving it looking pretty pathetic. And I tried to save it but I though it was a hopeless cause. And then today, we get ready to head over to my parents' and when we step outside, this is what we found. There is one lone flower trying to make it. It made me smile. It was just what I needed today. There is still hope.

I helped my mom clean up and organize the upstairs in their house today while Andrew helped my dad finish mudding and sanding. They are almost ready to paint. It's pretty exciting. While cleaning tonight, I came across some of my very favorite books from when I was a kid and a handful of those books on tape to follow along with when reading a story. You know the ones, they chime each time its time to turn the page. And on the back side there is a place for you to record your own story. Well, these tapes are filled with stories told by our little kid voices complete with arguing and name calling. There is plenty of silliness, fake fart sounds, and burping courtesy of my brother. I feel so lucky to have come across these tapes now, at this point in my life. They are something that I really will cherish forever. They help me to feel not so far away.

Andrew is giving me a little fashion show right now of all the new clothes he has gotten over the past few days. We are doing a trial run of packing to know whether or not we should invest in another large suitcase. And Tillie is running around crazy under my feet. It's a fun night at our house.

P.S. Raisins make me puke.

I have become obsessed with gardening

As a kid, I used to think my mom was weird because she spent so much time out in the yard planting, pruning, and watering. And now here I am doing the same thing. And I actually really enjoy it. I planted some beautiful flowers in the planters that hang on our porch railings. And I planted more out front in an old pot of my mother's that I brought back to life with a little white spray paint. The older I get, the more I find myself becoming like my mother. And unlike other people I know, I'm actually okay with that.

We decided to have a garage sale at the end of May. That gives us an opportunity to get rid of some of the stuff we have lying around here that we never use. And we can make a little extra cash. We are holding it in conjunction with my parents. It will be a major undertaking but I think it will be good for all of us. Every now and then you just kind of have to let go of some things, slough off the excess, and start fresh. And I think that's something I really need in my life right now.

Welcome Home Tillie

Today I went and picked Tillie up and took her home. She had to smell everything in our house to make sure nothing had changed. And then she ate and layed down and went to sleep. She slept all evening. Even now, she is laying down on the couch.

When Andrew came home, he brought me these beautiful flowers. He missed me. Isn't that sweet.

Now we are enjoying a late night Taco Bell picnic.

Andrew is still working at Chili's but tonight he started trying to give away all of his remaining shifts so we can spend more time together.
