Happy J.Crew Day:

J.Crew opened this morning. Finally. And we went. Andrew got a shirt, some cords, we both got new camp socks, and I got this dress:

It really is beautiful. I wanted to wear it to work tomorrow but the salesgirl left the security tag on it so I have to bring it back to the store. It will probably have to wait until Saturday, but look for a picture coming soon.

Waiting for Tomorrow:

J.Crew is opening tomorrow. I never thought this day would come. I've been dreaming about it, planning for it obsessively, and making Andrew text the manager at YaYa's for updates for months. It's finally here. I've already picked out what I'm wearing tomorrow (I'm going shopping during my lunch break): chambray shirt, cropped pink wool pants, and heels -- all J.Crew.

Andrew and I did a major closet overhaul (so, more like just me) in preparation for the crisp weather and J.Crew opening. There are about 4 shirts left on Andrew's side.

So, I'm getting my hair cut next Thursday (yay Kat!). I'm overdue. My hair is beginning to become unruly. I am starting to look like a wild woman. During the summer, I feel like this is more acceptable. But when the weather gets cold, I become a more polished version of myself and I feel like my hair needs to be a reflection of that. So, I've been debating about what I want for a while now: part of me wants to cut it quite a bit and then part of me wants to leave it long. And then there's this little nagging voice in my head telling me, and it has been since the beginning of the summer, to get bangs. Like these:

My mom always told me I couldn't have bangs, that I wouldn't look good with bangs because my forehead is too short/small. But I'm starting to think maybe she's been wrong all these years. I think these might work. But I'm afraid of commiting to this haircut, hating it, and being stuck dealing with it for months until it grows out. Anyone have any suggestions?

New clothes:

Got these in the mail today from J.Crew for our trip:

My secret to looking awesome? Packing light. Mixing and matching. Not even thinking about a hair dryer.

Today we got to looking at St. Louis real estate and found some pretty awesome and affordable houses near Lafayette Square and Tower Grove Park. That's the dream -- a future in St. Louis. Just saying.

New clothes, new music:

Had two shirts from J.Crew waiting on me when I got home today. One of them looks like this:

Also, listened to some snippets of Deathcab's new album, Codes and Keys, coming out May 31st. It sounds like it's going to be pretty awesome. I'm really enjoying "You are a Tourist" and the video is pretty cool too:

Happy Friday!

Thank God it's Friday. I feel like I almost didn't make it.

We've spent the evening eating brinner (breakfast for dinner), watching some of our favorites shows, and dreaming of the amazing new clothes in J.Crew's new fall line. I know it's a little early to be thinking of fall, but with the announcement of a new J.Crew opening in LR this summer, I'm already saving up for the pieces I want from the collection:

Oh and Happy April Fools Day! Hope none of you got pranked too badly. We made it out unscathed.

Spring wardrobe update

March is turning out the be a tricky month. The trees are saying that Spring has arrived. They're lying. And I'm angry. But rather than lash out, I've decided to channel my rage into something positive: shopping. I will shop with Spring in mind regardless of the temperature. Because it has to come sooner or later. And when it does, I'll be ready:

March purchases

Apparently, J. Crew has been reading my mind. Because so far this year, they are dead on with exactly what I've been craving for my wardrobe: faded chambray shirt, white skinny jeans, cropped khakis, and gauzy shirt dresses (Madewell). And Piperlime, my go to for pretty much anything, has got it going on this season with their selection of wedges and sandals. My summer shoe motto is this: celebrate the fact that I am a girl by wearing shoes that a boy couldn't get away with wearing (with the exception of wearing flipflops in the shower at the gym, of course). And man do they make it so easy.

J.Crew Spring 2011

I just got these pants on super sale @ J.Crew!

Originally $108, reduced to $79.99, and with the additional 40% off all sale items (still going on, btw), this gorgeous pair of pants was a whopping $47.99. Amazing. And while I wait for them to arrive, I am fantasizing about all the soft grey and lovely brown things I will pair with them.

Speaking of J.Crew (obsessed, yes), their Spring 2011 lookbook is full of beautiful clothes. Like these:

Come on Spring, hurry up and get here! I am dying for some bare legs!

R.I.P. 30 for 30

Ok, so the whole 30 for 30 thing hasn't really been working out for me. I did good for a few days but then today I had the day off from work -- Happy Veteran's Day, btw (thank you government employment) -- so I went to exchange a sweater that I bought last week (I figured it didn't count because I was just getting a smaller size). And then stupid me decided it wouldn't hurt to take a look around. And what did I find? A leather jacket on sale for $30. So I bought it. Only an idiot would pass that up. And because I had already failed, I bought a red flannel shirt to go with it. And I look good.

So in celebration of the end of my short lived (not even a week) 30 for 30 participation, here are my favorite picks from J.Crew. I love love love that store. I would marry it if I could.

Happy Season Premiere Week

The Glee season two premiere happened tonight. Shame on you if you didn't catch it. But you can always watch it on http://www.fox.com/.

Taking a look at my calendar, I realized the World Gymnastics Championships is coming up soon -- October 16-24. And its guaranteed to be exciting. There were a ton of new faces at Nationals and they performed beautifully. I'm excited to see what the Worlds team brings to The Netherlands.

On a different note:
I know I have expressed my love for J. Crew on more than one occasion. But if possible, this fall I am more in love with them than ever. I want it all. Especially these:
