Harry Potter weekend:

Happy Harry Potter Finale Day! I'm not going to lie, I'm a little sad about it. But also really excited. I have been waiting for this for such a long time.

Also, an update on the foot injury: went to the doctor today. Still unsure about what it could be, but he's got me on an anti-inflammatory and crutches for the next 10 days. And if it doesn't improve, the next step is an x-ray and MRI.

Going to my nephew's karate party tonight. He got student of the month so his family and friends are invited to a pizza party in his honor, complete with karate instruction taught by the wonder kid himself.

Have a happy weekend, everyone! Go see Harry Potter!

Sunday morning:

We tried to ride our bikes last night but it rained so instead, we stayed in, ate Ben & Jerry's, and played board games. And this trailer came on the TV while we were playing:

It's hard to believe it's almost over. I remember going to see the first movie in theaters. I was 16 and with a high school boyfriend. And now here we are, 10 years later, about to finish the story. So much has happened in between. So many milestones, so much history. I feel, in a way, that I have grown up with Harry Potter. I can measure my life by the release of each movie. It is a huge part of my friendship with the Order. We bonded over reading those books as nerdy teenagers. We looked forward to each movie so much that there are entire pages in my scrapbook dedicated to them. I'm a more than a little bit sad to see them finished. They are the only movies that A and I pay to see anymore. After July, we will never go to the theater ever again. And even if we do, it won't be the same. I feel like something big is ending. And I hate change.

I've also been looking at baskets for the front of my bike. I'm thinking this Nantucket/Tom Nevers one might fit the bill nicely:

Harry Potter + more:

Check out this Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 trailer that someone put together using footage from the previous seven movies:

If this doesn't get you excited, check your pulse. You're probably dead.

In other news: we bought Andrew's plane tickets for Las Vegas! This will probably be our one and only trip to Sin City (it isn't normally our cup of tea) so if anyone has any suggestions for what to check out while we're there, we'd be more than happy to hear them. We were thinking about going to see the Lion King while we're there but we've both seen it already (A in St. Louis, me on Broadway in NYC).

And for all of you that browse this blog looking for mention of A's sleeptalking, listen up:
Last night, I was having trouble falling asleep. Lucky for me, a certain someone wasn't having any trouble sleeping whatsoever because while I was lying there in the dark, I heard a voice mumble and it said "I know for the really important stuff in the morning you'll get me. Teleport and stuff like that."

Haahaa.

Creationary!

This weekend, we got this new game called Creationary.
Its like Pictionary, but instead of drawing something and trying to get everyone to guess what it is, you build it with Legos. Its fun. Here are a few of the creations we have made so far:

P.S. We saw the new Harry Potter movie Saturday afternoon. It was amazing. A roller coaster of emotion. And beautiful. I can't wait for the second half in July. If you haven't seen it yet, GO! If you're a Harry Potter fan, you will not be disappointed.

Bark in the Park

We went to the NLR Bark in the Park this afternoon. And Tilllie got microchipped for free. Check it out here.
And then we went to PetSmart where Tillie got some awesome new dog food and tons of treats.
She had a pretty huge day.

In other news, the Harry Potter marathon continued with Lego Harry Potter Year 2 followed by Apples to Apples with the family and chi tea lattes.

Happy October!

To celebrate the beginning of my favorite Autumn month, we made these chocolate and pumpkin whoopie pies this afternoon:

And since my nephew and I are in the middle of a Harry Potter movie and Lego game marathon, we sat down to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets this evening. He has a magic wand and we sit around making up spells and talking about how we're going to go to the theme park together. It is ridiculously nerdy, incredibly cute, and the perfect way to ring in the month of Halloween.

P.S. This ring is adorable -- I want it!

I also want this fashion coloring book.
