With Love

We had some fun tonight getting Kristin's care package ready to send her way. We worked hard on it and I may be biased, but it is incredible.

Andrew had to work tonight and I am sad. We don't see too much of each other these days.

I am so glad its the weekend and I am looking forward to having a break from work. We have a lot of plans for this weekend. You'll see.

Cornchip Thursday

Went to the mall today and got Andrew some new pants and Tillie a winter coat. Cute, huh?

Today is National Cornchip Day. Eat a few and celebrate the wonderful snack that salsa's best friend.

We are tired today. We worked hard and we played even harder. I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday.

Just another day

Andrew has been so hard at work lately preparing for his new job and going to school. He's got a lot on his plate right now but I am so proud of him.

Looking into vacation spots lately and getting very excited about the possibilities that are open to us this summer. Maybe its all the ice and cold weather, but I am desperately seeking someplace warm.

I am also dreaming about this little gadget.

All work and some play

The roads were covered in ice this morning so I spent the day working from home. It was a nice break and I feel like I got a lot accomplished. There is supposed to be more severe winter weather coming our way tonight.

I'm really digging the City Sage's Blogger Book Love series right now. She has different writers/designers/bloggers post about their favorite reads. The ones I have added to my must read list are:
Marjorie Morningstar by Herman Wouk
Moonfleet by J. Meade Falkner
No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander Smith
Eyewitness Auschwitz by Filip Muller
The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls

Check these out and more on this website.

Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year! It's the year of the ox. And what better way to celebrate than curling up with a cup of hot cocoa on a frozen night.

While you're enjoying your night in, please enjoy this also.

Fun but Freezing

We have been in decoration mode for the past few days. We got a new runner for our entry way, some new shelves, and finally hung a lot of the pictures that had been hanging out around the baseboards for months. I feel so productive. I am still playing around with the placement of things and all the little details, but I am much happier with how things are looking.

Tyler came and spent the afternoon with us playing Call of Duty and snacking. He brought Tillie some treats that he got especially for her. How sweet is that?

I also got to spend some time with my friends tonight to celebrate Gary's birthday. We had American Pie Pizza and then went back to their house for cake. It was fun. Happy Birthday, Gary.

Ice skating with friends

Today we had friends come in from Jonesboro and we spent the day at the mall, ice skating, eating @ Purple Cow and just hanging out. Andrew fell a few times and hurt his hands. I didn't fall once and even managed skating on one foot.

National Pie Day!

Fresh, greasy pizza and the DIY channel -- a great way to spend a Friday night in.
Nothing beats cuddling under a good blanket.

Found a great post on this site about making your own pasta. I plan on doing just that this weekend.

Today is National Pie Day! Eat a piece of pie to celebrate! We ate pizza pie -- it totally counts.

...but a lady don't spit.

Today we:
  • looked at getting Amtrak tickets to St. Louis
  • got my hair cut
  • caught up on our TV shows
  • felt like a high school kid again
  • laughed at this video

Brainstorming

Tonight I did laundry at the rents' and Tillie came along. She was very interested in the cats but they didn't seem to be too interested in her.

Then Kat came over and we worked on Kristin's care package. The above picture was what our work space looked like when it was all over. I can't divulge too much information in case Kristin is reading this, but if she is, Krit, be prepared to have your faced rocked off. This care package is like none you have ever received.

I have had a headache for 3 days straight. I am ready for it to be over.

Oh, also check out this link -- it's super cool.

Inauguration Day

Tillie sure is a piece of work.
She has started clawing away at her new wood floor of her kennel so now we have to install a piece of sheet metal on top of it to prevent further damage.
She also loves to lick Andrew. Whenever he gets home, he smells like food and restaurant and she just sit down right next to him and proceeds to lick his pants and shirt. She is insane.

Inauguration Day is today. I have mixed feelings about it all. Today marks the start of a journey full of faith and patience for a household that is so decidedly Republican. But we are trying keeping an open mind.

New Curtains!

So the last time we left Tillie alone, she somehow got the dishwasher open, used the dishwasher door as a step stool to get up on the kitchen counters, and managed to shred the blinds in the kitchen window. So today my mom made these curtains for us. But when she measured, she only measured to the bottom of the cupboards so these curtains are way too short for our window. Needless to say they are a work in progress but nonetheless, I am grateful that we have them.

Also, had lunch with mom and Tyler today. I love McAlister's club sandwich -- it made my Monday that much better. Ran into an old college friend -- good but also weird.

Today's like: organization
Today's dislike: tomorrow

Just Like Christmas

My mom called me today and said that there was a mysterious box at her house full of mysterious things and she thought it was mine. So I went over there and got it and took it home to take a look inside. and when i took off the lid, it was just like Christmas inside! It was full of goodies that Maggie, Andrew's sister, had passed down to us -- things I had forgotten about almost a year ago. So much fun!

Also, my dad came over and fixed Tillie's kennel. Hoepfully it will keep from busting out.

Our weekend was too short! I'm not ready to face another Monday.

Bath Day

Saturday = Bath Day. Needless to say, Tillie was not pleased about it. But she is getting better. She didn't fight nearly as hard as she usually does. Maybe she is starting to enjoy it or at least tolerate it.

We had drinks with our good friend Lauren tonight. I love spending time with that kid. We talked about moving to St. Louis, just the three of us. Oh, to dream.

Chinese Mustaches

Tonight we went out for Chinese with my parents and Tyler. All you can eat. And we did.
Tyler started a snoring club for everyone who snores. No girls allowed though, except for Tillie.
Then we came home and enjoyed a night in with Prince Caspian.

Andrew is obsessed with his facial hair. For months, he has been growing it out. And while it is gross, I must admit it is quite impressive. It's gotten pretty full. He dreams of one day having a full handle bar mustache -- we do not have this goal in common.

Baby, its cold outside

When it's 10 degrees outside, nothing warms you up like a hot cup of cocoa. I enjoyed 4 marshmallows in mine this evening.

Tillie has destroyed her cage to the point of no return. My father is installing a wooden floor topped with a piece of sheet metal tomorrow. Hopefully it will put an end to all this madness.

I have been following this site lately. It's called 1001 rules for my unborn son and it is incredibly sweet in a weird kind of way.

My wish for tomorrow is that when I awake in the morning, the weather man will report that it is a cool 70 degrees outside my window. Yea, right.

You're Killing Me Smalls!!

Do you remember the part in the movie The Sandlot where the kids all rally together to try and save a baseball signed by Babe Ruth? Now try and recall the scene where they rig up the huge erector set that drops in a Mars rover to catapult the baseball back over the fence. Do you remember the result of that clever plan? Utter destruction. All of the metal pieces were wadded up into a steaming pile and sent flying back over the fence.

What you see here is a result of a clever plan caused by our very own Sandlot monster: Tillie. She is brilliant. She can figure out the levers, bread ties, caribiniers, you name it.
Today, I out smarted her and I clipped the caribiners in such a way that she wasn't able to escape.

Mistake.

the hard plastic and metal was ripped, torn, and bent.

Tomorrow our dear Tillie is getting hardwood floors installed into her penthouse. Beat that Tillie.

Today Space: Above and Beyond = Awesome. The words are synonymous. Try using it in its abbreviated form next time you feel the need to say "awesome".
"Did you see the last ER?" -"Yah, it was SAAB!"

...its catching on.

Tuesday night with Larry

Tonight we enjoyed buffet night at Larry's pizza. Every time I go, I try the chocolate peanut butter pizza. I want so badly for it to be good but it never is.

Andrew is in love with the harmonica he got for Christmas. He plays it in the car and when he isn't playing it, it lives in his pocket.

I also got some new yoga pants. I am about to start a new workout blitz in preparation for bridesmaid dress shopping with Laura in April.

We are loving this video right now.

Sick Day

I came home from work today feeling really sick so I parked myself on the couch and stayed there for the entire evening. My parents came by and brought me dinner and spent a little time keeping me company.

Tillie tried to cheer me up all evening by acting silly. She discovered how much she loves tunneling through the sleeping bags Tyler got out when he was here and spent a good chunk of time rolling around in them.

Today I love:
Chicken Noodle Soup
My DVR
warm blankets
medicine

Decoration Station

This Sunday has been very productive. We got a new table. It fits perfectly just inside our entryway. I am still playing around with it. I also found some cute lamps @ Ikea that I am thinking about getting for the living room. Oh and this table.

I also got lots of laundry done and cleaned the kitchen.

I don't feel rested though and I am not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.

Playtime Pizza and 1000 Tickets!

To celebrate Tyler's birthday, the entire family went out to Playtime Pizza for a night of go kart racing, bumper cars, mini golf, games, and all you can eat pizza. Andrew won the go kart race but I hit the jackpot on Big Bass Challenge and won 1000 tickets! At the end of the night, we pooled all our tickets and Tyler got some handcuffs, a gumball machine, army men, vampire fangs, and one of those pin things that you put your face in and it outlines it. Pretty sweet. Everyone played really hard and now we're ready for a nice relaxing night at home.

Also, I think I have a sinus infection. And trust me, it's not fun.

Sleepover

Tonight we had a sleep over and Tyler was our honored guest. We ate McDonald's happy meals, played Call of Duty, rough housed with Tillie, and watch episodes of Star Wars Clone Wars. I have to admit that I actually had a good time.

Tilliecanoe and Tyler too

I got to pick up Tyler from school today. It was nice being able to spend some time alone with him. We had fun playing xbox and messing around with Tillie. He wants to spend the night tomorrow night so that he can sleep with Tillie. He says she loves him. How cute is that?

I'm glad Thursdays are back in full swing -- Kath & Kim, The Office, & 30 Rock -- what a fabulous way to celebrate what is usually a slow, uneventful day.

Gilmore Wednesday

Had dinner with the rents at McAllister's then spent the remainder of the evening watching Gilmore Girls and eating Dove chocolates with mom. The decorating bug has bitten again so we also brainstormed about things we could do to the apartment. Look for pictures coming soon.

So this is the new year...

"I wish the world was flat like the old days
Then I could travel just by folding a map
No more airplanes, or speed trains, or freeways
There'd be no distance that could hold us back."

I've been feeling restless again lately and reading Gene Wilder's autobiography. I think he is incredibly interesting.

We are very excited that Scrubs has been resurrected on ABC. It brings enjoyment to our Tuesday nights.

Andrew has been obsessed with this website lately. You should check it out.

Surprises Surprises

We woke this morning to find the entire world covered in a coat of ice and enjoyed our Monday in this world of crystal.

Also spent a large portion of the evening playing with Tillie. It's incredible how a few squeaky toys can prove to be better entertainment than all the technology we possess.

Lazing on a Sunday afternoon

Anyone catch the Queen reference?

Today we took down the Christmas tree. I have mixed feelings about it.
Got groceries too -- I'm in a cooking mood tonight.

morning walk + Sonic + second installment of Lord of the Rings = perfect Sunday afternoon.

Happy Days

Today was the 7th Annual Chuck E Cheese Birthday Extravaganza. It was fabulous as always, even if it was a little belated. I love the Order (my best friends in the entire world).

I also had the privilege to introduce Andrew to Larry's Pizza tonight. We had the Chicken Honey Mustard pizza and the Baked Potato pizza. He has decided this is his new favorite pizza place.

Happy Birthday to my beautiful nephew who turns 7 today.

Now we'll spend a quiet evening at home watching the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. We leave you with the video that keeps us laughing these days:

A Friendly Friday

I had forgotten how good it can be to catch up with old friends. Today I was reminded of that.

Here are some of the highlights of the day:
Chi Tea Lattes at Community Bakery
Finally checking out that antique store in Argenta
Working on the puzzle my nephew got me
Watching Bridget Jones's Diary with Tillie
