Lunch dates are great for catching up with friends

Had lunch with Tammy and got to catch up on everything. Its hard to believe we need these kinds of lunches -- we used to spend 40 hours a week together. Kind of sad that we don't see each other on a daily bases anymore but its nice to be able to have lunch dates.

My mom took me shopping @ Target this afternoon and we hit up Sonic for a Rt. 44 Diet Coke on the way home.

And then Andrew and I played Mario, ate some fabulous roast beef sandwiches with the fam, and packed for our trip to Cape tomorrow. My outfit is so cute. Wait till you see it. Its ba-na-nas. I die.

3/4 of the Order

Tuesday

I've been shopping for clothes with my mom the past couple days. Got some pretty cute stuff. But so far, my favorite thing is this bracelet. It makes me happy. I have been wearing it everywhere.

Got to hang out with Kat and Kristin tonight. We finally did our Christmas gift exchange and went out for dinner @ Sticky Fingerz where I'm pretty sure this drunk guy tried to hit on us but Kat ended up giving him hair advice. It was pretty entertaining.

Then we played this couples game that Kristin got us and it was cracking me up.

And then Andrew and I played Mario. We are getting pretty good at it. We almost have it beat.

Monday

This was my first full day as a 25 year old. Don't I look it? Not really. But atleast I don't look 14 anymore.

Happy Birthday Tammy! I hope your birthday is super fun.

12/27

This picture was taken today, 23 years ago. It was my 2nd birthday and my brother's 4th. This was always our tradition: share the day, share a party, share a cake. This year I have decided to start a new tradition: The Kindness Project.

If you didn't get the email and don't know what its all about, its basically a worldwide movement that encourages you to perform acts of kindness for strangers as a way to honor the memory of someone. Its a way for me to share my brother with all those who never got the chance to meet him.

So every year on our birthday, I'm going to participate by doing an anonymous act of kindness for someone and leave a little card behind so that they know that his life and death continue to matter. And I encourage you to join me. Not just on our birthday, but throughout the year, because every time you participate, you allow my brother to touch the world again.

For more information and ideas about what you can do, please visit http://missfoundation.org/kindness/index.html

The day after Christmas is reserved for laziness.

We spent the day after Christmas hanging out, eating, playing with toys, and catching up on sleep. Andrew had to go to work this morning but came home early enough to sneak a nap in between dinner and watching Star Trek.

And we got to open some Christmas presents that arrived late. Andrew got me a bottle my favorite perfume and he got I Love You Man on DVD.

Oh and I got to see Laura for about 5 minutes today which was nice since she now lives in Florida.

And now we're settling in for a little more Mario before bed.

Good Day.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope your holiday was as good as ours.

We are filled with warmth and cookies, our eyelids are heavy, but we are very happy.

Tillie is the most worn out that I have ever seen her be. And Andrew is enraptured with his new video games. And my thumbs hurt from playing too much Super Mario. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

And apparently this year was the year for starting all kinds of new traditions. But I think I am okay with that.

Twas the night before Christmas

Santa is coming tonight!

Leave out some cookies and milk and get to bed early so he can do the creepy Santa thing and come down your chimney and sneak around in your living room while you're asleep.

And to Rim, who is on the other side of the world and has been celebrating Christmas for almost half a day now, I hope you're having a very Merry Christmas!

I hate waiting

The last few days before Christmas are the worst. I hate all the sitting around waiting. I just wish it would hurry up and get here so we could all get on with our lives already.

So to pass the time, I've made even more cookies and finished Tillie's stocking.

Oh and 500 Days of Summer is a good movie. You were right Kat, I did like it.

More baking

Did more baking this afternoon.

Tillie's stocking is almost complete.

I got to hang out @ Starbucks with the girls tonight. I'm lucky to have such good friends.

Oh and we made our hotel reservation for New Year's Eve today. Cape, here we come.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday to my dad!

And hello to winter. I do not want to see you this year unless you bring snow.

Cookies and Avatar

Sunday

Worked on Tillie's stocking, made aliens with Tyler, and hung out around the house with Tillie.

Tonight we all went out to the IMAX to see Avatar. It was really good. You should go see it.

And I am really excited about the new Alice in Wonderland. I've been waiting for this movie for a long time.

And I cannot believe that Brittney Murphy died today. Its sad. Watching Clueless will never be the same.

Saturday

Did some last minute errands, got groceries, and laundry.

Andrew and I have been trying to find healthy alternatives to eating red meat and so we have been trying to find good recipes that include tofu. Tonight we tried spaghetti with tofu meatballs. It was really good.

I baked Christmas cookies and Kristin came over, fresh from Delaware. We got to catch up a little.

One week and counting

Andrew worked this morning and mom and I got the last of our Christmas shopping/shipping taken care of. I started working on Tillie's stocking and hope to have it done tomorrow.
Kristin, 1/4 of the Order, is back in town for the holidays. I am so excited to be able to spend an extended period of time with her. At least I'll get to spend Christmas with one Walker twin.
Andrew and Tyler had a Halo session this evening. They are cracking me up. And Tyler is so excited about Christmas he can hardly stand it.

If This Is A Sack, Then Get In It.

I'm sure a lot of people have heard of and love Jim Henson's The Storyteller and love it very much and I'm sad to say that I have only just now discovered it. I love it. I mean LOVE it. Meghan doesn't think much of it which is ok, I know she didn't grow up with a fondness for the same side of Jim Henson as I did.(She loved Seasame Street and Fraggle Rock, I loved The Labyrinth and other things like The Storyteller.) If you get a chance to watch these episodes, and I hope you do, then I think you'll find it very entertaining. Especially my siblings.

Can't really say much about today. Not much going on. I pinched my pinky pretty good and the little guy is a tad sore. I watched Conan O'Brien. Love that guy. Caught the SNL Christmas special. Excellent.

And that is it.

A Netflix Night

We got Angels & Demons in the mail today and sat down with our Subway dinner to watch it. I had read the book but had yet to see the movie. It wasn't bad, just not how it is in the book. But what movie is?

Andrew is increasing his hours at work now that he is on a break from school.

And we are wrapping up all of our "to dos" for the Christmas holiday. It feels good to be on top of things.

I wish I was lost in New York

Tonight we watched Home Alone 2 (the best Home Alone movie, in my opinion). And I cooked dinner which didn't turn out to be such a good idea. And with all the freezer burned broccoli and cold weather minus the snow, I am wishing now more than ever that I could be lost in New York too. Only instead of getting a room at the Plaza, I'd move into a brownstone and never come back.

After much planning and packaging, the Christmas surprise that Kat and I made for Lauren traveled thousands of miles and finally ended up at her door in South Korea. She documented the arrival and opening of said surprise with pictures on her blog here. I seriously miss that kid like a roach and am wishing there was a box big enough for her to mail herself back to us in.

We're mailing out our Christmas cards now so if you haven't gotten one yet, its coming. And if you have, you're welcome.

P.S. Rim -- you and your adorable self are now the background on our computer.

A little more Christmas every day

The house is looking a little more like Christmas every day. There are multiple trees up, the cookie baking is underway, and lighted garland is strung everywhere.

Tillie got a bath today.

I found the coolest rug @ Target that I want want want.

Christmas Cookie Season

We broke in the new ovens tonight by making Christmas cookies. Every year, Tyler makes frosted sugar cookies and tonight we made 2 batches of them.

We also got up really early and hit up Old Navy where we scored 6 (3 for me, 3 for mom) fleece jackets for $5 each. I hope the rest of you took advantage of that deal. I am wearing one right now to combat the nasty weather outside and it is most comfortable.

Andrew hung out with Schuck tonight at his house. Tillie and I stayed in. We cooked homemade whole wheat french bread and potato soup.

I really have no idea

Not a whole lot going on today: ran some errands, wrapped some presents, got the fabric to make Tillie's Christmas stocking.

Andrew worked. Then we had dinner and watched Year One -- our newest movie from Netflix. And we tried one of our new teas, Chocolate Coconut. Not bad.

One of my friends overcame a huge hurdle in her life tonight which is a really good thing, I think. If you're reading this, I am proud of you! And I hope you took pictures.

Tomorrow they are having women's fleece jackets on sale for $5 @ Old Navy. You should get up early in the morning and check that out before all the good ones are gone.

"I am a visitor here, I am not permanent"

Andrew had the day off of work and school so we hung out together, got some lunch, and ran some errands.
The electrician came today and hooked up the rangetop, microwave, and ovens so we celebrated a little by actually cooking something that didn't require a George Foreman grill.
We checked out a new store in Park Hill this afternoon, a few doors down from Kat's new salon, called Park Hill Pantry. They make their own local coffees and teas which you can buy by the pound or ounce. We got the Old Mill blend of coffee, named after the Old Mill down on Lakeview which is the same mill seen in Gone With the Wind. (and where some of our wedding photos were taken). And I got two different types of teas. I tried one tonight. It is delicious.

Internet is crap

Our Internet has been working on and off all day -- stupid Comcast.

Today Andrew had his Nutrition final which he thinks he completely aced. Yay.

I ran some errands with my mom and got my hair cut @ Kat's. Its cute.

We watched the 100 best songs of the 90s on VH1 tonight. I loved almost every single song on there. We are thinking of making a compilation cd. Anyone interested in a copy?

Also we took our picture for our Christmas card tonight. Don't we look ridiculous?

New countertops!

Tuesday

The countertops were installed today. And with the fridge moved in, it is starting to feel like an actual real kitchen. Its hard to believe its actually happening. Hopefully by Thursday, all the appliances will be working and we can bake some Christmas cookies. That is what I am most looking forward to. I love baking.

I feel like we were very productive today. We had Jason's (our fav cold/rainy/any day place) for lunch and brought it back to the house and ate it in front of a fire. Then we paid a little visit to Kat, did some Christmas shopping, and mailed a very important package. I also had a chance to work on some more of my projects during my down time. And we ate dinner @ Larry's. Delicious.

I'm still wishing for that snow.

I got my productivity on

Today I jumped out of bed and got to it. I painted cabinets in the new kitchen and worked on all kinds of other projects. I starred at this machine for too many hours today. And I am worn out by it.

Andrew is done with his first aid class! Definitely a cause for celebration. No more early morning class for a little while.

Christmas is definitely on the way

Today we woke up early. Andrew went to work and I went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.

And then we did a little Christmas shopping. And I wrapped a bunch of presents.

When Andrew came home, we ate dinner, watched Meet Me in St. Louis, and I worked on a few Christmas projects I've got going on. And with the cold weather outside, it is really starting to feel like winter. Now if only it would snow.

Another Christmas Tree

Today we hung out with Tyler, played video games, and played spy.

I started putting up the Christmas tree in the living room -- the one with all the family ornaments. I usually help put it up but this was the first year that I did it myself. My mom taught me how to string the lights and I did most of it myself. Tyler helped me hang the ornaments. I think tomorrow we will finish up with the ribbon and garland.

We had this Macaroni Grill thing for dinner and wine in front of another fire. It was nice.

I cried on your forehead

Today was cold -- a bundled up in blankets kind of day.

I woke up with a headache. Andrew and I messed around on Netflix (I'm officially obsessed, btw). I got to skype with Laura all the way down in WPB.

Andrew went to work and I picked up my nephew from school and stopped for a snack on the way home.

Since it was so cold out tonight, we made a fire, got Chinese takeout, and played board games. It was fun. Sitting in front of the fire I thought of you, Laura & Dan, enduring the heat down in Florida.

And in case the title of this blog didn't give it away, Andrew and I are freaks.

If Cookies Had Tales...

What would they be like? Adventurous and full of action or dramatic and filled with teenaged angst? Do you think the story the cookie would tell might determine how delicious it is or are all cookies innately scrumptious? This is a dark chocolate, flax seed, Omega 3 cookie. I know, exotic right? Well it is good and no matter what his story is I know he is pretty good for me.

Not much to report. Slow news day. Meghan ran errands with her mother and I was sick...talking to cookies and learning about their wonderful stories...

...cookies with tails...thats something all together different and exciting and for another post.

Oh Christmas Tree

This morning Andrew went to school and work. I applied for a job with the Arkansas Coalition for Excellence. And had lunch @ McAlister's.

When Andrew got home from school, we got all of the Christmas decorations down and put up our Christmas tree. Its pretty.

We ate spaghetti for dinner and caught up on the shows we've missed over the past week. I don't know how I feel about the new Scrubs. Its weird. I wish Elliot, Carla, and the janitor were still around.

Happy December

Someone special out there is going to be seeing my little owl friend very soon. That's all I'm saying. Don't you wish it were you?
We enjoyed some Chick-fil-a for lunch this afternoon. It was delicious as always.
We also started a 2 week trial membership of Netflix tonight. Very fun. I am loving the whole "watch a movie instantly on your computer" thing.
I can't believe its already December. Hard to believe this year is already pretty much over.
