The Last Day in February
The rain from yesterday has combined with dropping temperatures in the form of snow outside my window. Its magical. What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Although I will admit it is a little strange to see the snow falling on the millions of daffodils that are already blooming. And next week it's supposed to get up into the 80's... only in Arkansas.
We had lunch with the family at Jason's and then I watched Made of Honor and did laundry. Now that Andrew has done to work, I think I'll bundle up with Tillie and some hot cocoa and enjoy a night in. I hope everyone finds ways to stay warm tonight!

A Day At Oaklawn
Today was the KKYK race at Oaklawn so we got to go and present the trophy to the winner and get our picture taken. I had never been before but I really enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun. Our box is right over the entrance to the paddock and we get to go down to the sidelines to watch our race like the people in the photo are doing. I also made the first bet I've ever made in my life but I lost. I guess that's what I get for betting.
Andrew has friends in from out of town this weekend so I will be hanging out at my parents' house a lot and doing girly stuff. and most definitely catching up on my sleep. I need to recharge from this week.

National Pistachio Day
Today is National Pistachio Day. If you like them, enjoy a few in celebration.
Today was also my first day back at work. It was alright but I am so tired tonight. It took a lot out of me but at least I am feeling better.
Tonight Kat and I went and checked out the Yoga Fitness Center. We are going to take a class there Monday and see how we like it. Also, we are planning a crafternoon session for some time before then to make bags for our yoga mats.
The bowl I painted for Tillie was finally ready for me to pick up. And Rim, I also picked up the mug you painted. Yep, it was ready the day you left.
Kat has started posting on her livejournal again and I am so happy. I'm glad I could provide some sort of inspiration to you, Thurm. Everyone should check out her blog here.
Good news at work today: my role has changed quite a lot and now I am able to do more of the stuff I studied in college -- the stuff I really enjoy. I am thrilled.
So, I don't know if anyone has noticed, but whenever Andrew posts, it is hilarious. I am going to make him do it more often. It gives me a break and lets him get his creative juices flowing.
Now I'm off to watch 30 Rock and eat the red velvet cupcake I got at Cupcakes on Cavenaugh. Then I'll probably turn in. I'm beat.

A Little Better
I'm feeling a little better today and I am planning on returning to work tomorrow, armed with my arsenal, of course. I actually managed to hold down a carrot today, which considering how I have been feeling, is a huge accomplishment.
I am really digging this website lately: You Are My Fave -- it is brilliant and hilarious at the same time. Check it out.
We're all still really bummed that Lauren is gone. I guess it just hasn't really hit me yet.
Rim, I miss you. We all miss you. Hope you're having a blast. Can't wait to hear from you.

No Sunlight
Today Meghan was not feeling well again. She was actually sent home from work which surprised me. She seems to have contracted some variation of the flu and it was pretty bad. However, I now have her equipped with a hip flask of Emetrol, the rainbow of healing goodness, and I am confident that things will be on the up and up... not up and up like up chuck... that is to say up as in better... not like cookies or projectile... well anyway Emetrol = Good.
Here, look at something cute!...I mean cool. *ahem*

Rim's Last Night In Town
"cause everyone knows now that every night now will be Reemus's last night in town."
Tonight we celebrated -- and for some of us, mourned -- Rim's last night in town before flying away from us to be in Korea for an entire year. I can't even think about it really without crying. I just have to pretend that it will only be a week or so before I see her face again. It breaks my heart. Over the past few weeks, not to mention the past few years, Rim and I have grown so close that I can't imagine her not being there to talk out my thoughts with.
And so Rim, if you're reading this, we LOVE you and we miss you already. Please call/email as soon as you arrive so we know you made it safely. Have fun love and be careful.
P.S. Andrew loves Tillie. A lot.

Driving Slow on Sunday Morning
I slept an incredible amount this morning and didn't wake up until noon. But I guess my body really needed it after the ordeal it went through yesterday, so I'm not complaining. Plus, I was just glad for my head to not be hurting for once.
We took Tillie to meet my sister's dog, Bullet, today. They got along alright but I don't think Tillie really cared for him very much. Then we got Andrew a new tie for work and some baseball ringer tees because they are his favorite.
Now we are making breakfast for dinner and settling down with a good movie. I love Sundays because they are nice and slow, just like in the Maroon 5 song.
Happy Sunday everyone. Hope you're celebrating the fact that today is National Be Humble Day.

Bed rest
I woke up this morning with a migraine that kept me in bed literally all day. I am just now starting to feel better. Andrew went to work this evening and left me by myself but my mom came and spent some time with me and made me soup and took care of me. And this is the face that stayed by my side all day and kept me company. She's a sweetheart, isn't she?
My mom is making me go back to the doctor about my headaches and she wants me to go see a neurologist as well. It's kind of scary but I'll do anything to make these headaches stop. I feel like I just wasted an entire day of my life, not to mention my weekend. And I'd like the whole throwing up thing to go away as well.

Happy Birthday Katherine!
Today is Kat's 24th birthday!
I also wore these really cute shoes today with a really cute dress even though it was freezing out. I have decided that I am done with winter and I refuse to acknowledge the cold. I am going to pretend it is spring and dress accordingly from here on out.
We also heard from Kristin today. She got her care package. Here is just a little of what she had to say:
"You guys are absolutely the sweetest and COOLEST FRIENDS EVER!
I SO DON'T DESERVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE YOU TO PIECES!!!!!!"
We are think you're pretty great too, Krit.
Happy Birthday to my dearest Thurm. I hope you are having a wonderful day.

DIY Wednesday
So, there's this blog that I follow religiously called Design Sponge (link is on the right side of the screen) and every Wednesday, this couple that I just find incredibly cool, Derek & Lauren (from the Curiosity Shoppe in San Fransisco) post a DIY project and they call it DIY Wednesday. Well, maybe all their creativity has finally gotten to me or maybe I've just got cabin fever because lately, I've just been thinking up ways I can remodel our apartment without really remodeling it and getting in trouble. So tonight, I took the doors off the kitchen cabinets to see what it would look like. And I have to admit, it looks kind of cool. So I think they are going to stay off and I am going to paint the inside of the cabinets a bright color. Our dishes are just so colorful and I want to look at them all the time. And this will prevent Andrew from leaving the doors open all the time and driving me crazy. I want it to look a little something like this:
What do you think? Am I completely crazy?
I'm gonna sit on this idea for a few days and then I'll let you know what happens.

Book Shortage
So, I just finished reading this book today. It was an interesting enough read but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to anyone. The author's writing style is a little odd. I enjoy eccentricity as much as the next person, but she can be even a little creepy at times. But hey, maybe you're into that kind of thing. Anyway, I checked out 3 books from the library last week and I've already read them all. I have requested another book but it hasn't made it out my way via the InterLibrary Loan system. So, I am going to continue reading a book that I have been picking up and putting back down for the past couple of months -- Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. It's not a bad book, I just can't seem to get into it every time I try.
Andrew is still reading The Hobbit.

We love Wii
Another Monday come and gone. Thank you Lord we are one day closer to the weekend. I only have to wake up early 4 more times and then I can sleep in.
So, we have always loved playing our Wii but it seems like lately we are mega obsessed with it. I play Animal Crossing: City Folk every day. And we play Dr. Mario online against kids from China for hours. And we recently downloaded Super Mario for the Super Nintendo and I'm so excited to play it.
Andrew is also excited about this video. Check it out.

Nostalgic Sunday
Today we got groceries, and hung out at home for the majority of the day. Andrew has been working so much lately, it was nice to have him around for a change. And I spent an hour or two spending some much needed girl time with Kat and Lauren at Starbucks. And then Andrew and I picked up a few things at Target, grabbed dinner @ Wing Stop, and then came home and bathed Tillie. The picture is a little blurry because it was snapped so quickly. You have to be fast when you bathe her... she's spry.
We are thinking about getting a new laptop. Any one have any suggestions?
Also, I found this link the other day to an archive of old paper dolls that my mom played with as a kid. She saved them in her trunk and I grew up playing with them too. It was neat to stumble upon these as I have many memories attached to them. And it's even more neat that you can download and print every monthly installment from the 1950's to the 1990's. I will be using a lot of card stock and a lot of our printer's ink of these.

Valentine's Day 2009
Happy Valentine's Day! Andrew had to work all day so I spent the day at my parents' house. I made cookies with Tyler and passed out valentines. And I didn't have a single headache this whole day, so I am thankful for that.
Today is also my parents' 33rd wedding anniversary! They are incredible. And so are these cookies.

Friday the 13th
My Friday the 13th has been pretty scary -- I've been stuck with a headache that started out as a mild annoyance this morning and 3 Cokes, 2 Tylenol Extra Strength, and 2 Excedine Migraines later, has not deviated from its plan to completely ruin my Friday night. I have spent the evening laying in bed, holding my head to prevent it from splitting open and I am not pleased about it.
On a happier note, I have become addicted to printing valentines off of the Internet. I don't know how this really happened but I can't seem to pass a single one up. And now we have all these valentines and no real use for them. But aren't they cute?

Major salads
I had the overwhelming craving for a huge salad and fresh fruit for dinner tonight so Andrew, being the accommodating husband that he is, got everything I needed for the perfect dinner. It was delicious.
Andrew picked a major today! I am so proud.
The Office was incredible tonight. You better have watched it.
Take a look at the video that has Andrew smiling today.

Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk
Today is White T-shirt Day. It is also National Don't Cry over Spilled Milk Day. To celebrate Andrew and I donned two of our favorite white shirts. Its fun to celebrate pointless holidays.
My mom got us some presents today as well: a pitcher, platter, and large plate that all sort of resemble Van Gogh's Starry Night (my favorite painting ever). And she got us some really cool metallic plates with a leaf design that I will probably hang on the wall. I love it when we get random presents.
I am totally obsessed with this program that I downloaded that turns your photos into digital versions of the classic polaroid snapshots. It is so much fun. You can download it for yourself here.

The day the beard came off
Today Andrew shaved off the forest growing on his chin. And I spent the day searching for some cute rain boots but I can't seem to find any. Does anyone know where I can score a pair?
We celebrated the nasty weather by going out for Olive Garden and catching up on epsiodes of Scrubs.
Also, we got the best new pens. If you've never written with a new Sharpie pen then you haven't lived.

The Big Clean Up
Andrew's friends left for Jonesboro this evening and I kid you not, this is what our kitchen looked like. Awesome.
Andrew and I are spending a relaxing evening eating Chili's takeout and watching Penelope for the third time in 3 days. It really is good. You should check it out.
Also, Sour Patch Kids are my favorite candy of the moment. I just can't seem to stop eating them.

Day with Rim
Today Rim (Lauren) and I spent the day together. We took Tillie for a walk, painted some pottery at the painted pig, and enjoyed cupcakes at Cupcakes On Kavenaugh. I got a vanilla one and brought home a Godiva chocolate one to enjoy later. I brought it home for Andrew, but I'll probably end up eating it.
Andrew has been having fun hanging out with his friends, hanging out, playing games, and eating. Its good to see him having such a great time with friends he hasn't seen in forever. I am glad he gets this opportunity.
Had a really good chat with Kristin today too. I'm so proud of the work she is doing there and I'm really glad to hear that she is having a really good couple of weeks.

Houseguests
Andrew has his friends in from town so Tillie and I holed up in the bedroom with candy, movies, and a few good books. And from the sound of it, they're having just as good of a time out there.
I'm glad it's the weekend... two whole days off from work. I've got a lot to do.
Penelope is a really cute movie, btw. If you haven't watched it, you totally should.

Homebodies
Got home from work today and thought about cleaning but hung out on the computer instead.
Today is my old childhood dog, Glory's birthday. I try every year to forget it but every year I remember and it just makes me a little bit sad.
I'm looking for some good antique stores in central AR -- anyone know of any good ones?

Fun with Tillie
Today Andrew and Tillie met me for lunch. I guess she wasn't feeling too well because she threw up twice in the car. And then after work, I came home and played with Tillie while Andrew was at work. On his way home, he stopped by Taco Bell and we had a little picnic dinner. It was fun.
We are in the process of cleaning our apartment and getting it ready for Andrew's friends this weekend.

Cordova Ice Worm Day
Are you celebrating Cordova Ice Worm Day? What is a Cordova Ice Worm? There is a legend from Alaska that talks of some worms coming out of glaciers to enjoy the freezing weather. And apparently it's a pretty big deal there. They even elect an ice worm king and queen. I would like to have that title.
It was back to work and school for us today. For some reason this week has been really hard and even though its only Tuesday, I am incredibly eager for it to be over with.
Andrew beat me at Sorry! last night and tonight we had a rematch where I kicked his tale. Tomorrow is the face off. Stay posted for the results.
Today I learned that cherry flavoring in an ice tea is not one of those happy mistakes that you occasionally stumble upon. You can go ahead and cross that flavor combination off your list.
Now we are going to get schooled by a bunch of 9-year-old Chinese girls at Dr. Mario online.

Groundhog Day
Happy Groundhog Day! Now, I know they are saying that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and that there will be six more weeks of winter, but I just checked the weather report for this next ten days and it's going to be 69 degrees this weekend so I'm thinking he might be wrong. I mean, maybe he was just still so excited about the Steelers' win last night that he really couldn't concentrate.
I didn't go to work this morning because I woke up with a killer migraine. So I pumped my body full of medicine and slept all afternoon. And then Andrew and I scored these Cardinals caps. We are still keeping the dream of moving to St. Louis alive.
And now we're settling in for a nice night of margaritas, WOW, and our favorite TV shows.

Super Bowl Sunday
Today we:
had breakfast with my parents at IHOP
played video games with Tyler
watched the Super Bowl
ate incredible Super Bowl snacks
gave Tillie a bath
hung out with Schuck
We made a bet about who would win the Super Bowl. Andrew has to buy me a present because I called it.
We recorded the Puppy Bowl for Tillie. She hasn't moved from in front of the TV since we turned it on. Riveting television.
I am also excited about this game coming out this month.
Happy February.
